Why choose Martha's Vineyard Fast Ferry over driving into Massachusetts?

To avoid the bumper to bumper Cape Cod traffic and the endless construction zones from the City of Providence and down I-195 East through Massachusetts! You can avoid driving 50 to 100 extra miles into Massachusetts to the other ferries. Our fast ferry service offers less driving, convenient dockside parking and advance reservations - Martha's Vineyard Fast Ferry is the most convenient and quickest way to get to and from the island!

I am flying in from out of state, which airport should I fly into, Providence, RI (PVD) or Boston, MA (BOS)?

Before our service began last year most folks would fly into Boston and then would take a 2-hour bus ride to Woods Hole, MA. Now you can fly into Providence (PVD) and conveniently connect with our fast ferry to Martha's Vineyard via our Shuttle Service; our terminal is only 14 miles from the Providence Airport! You will also find that airfares into the Providence Airport are usually cheaper than Boston Logan Airport.

How would I get to the ferry from the Providence Airport?

We offer a Shuttle Service to and from the Providence Airport which makes getting to Martha's Vineyard even easier! Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. See our Providence Airport page for additional information.

I am taking the train into Rhode Island from out of state, which station should I arrive in, Providence (PVD) or Kingston (KIN)?

The Kingston Station is the closest. Our ferry is 15 miles away and we offer a Shuttle Service to and from the Kingston Train Station. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. See our Amtrak page for additional information.

  Where are the ferry terminals?

In Rhode Island: The terminal is located in Quonset Point, in the town of North Kingstown. We are approximately 15 minutes from Newport, 10 minutes from Warwick, 20 minutes from Providence, 30 minutes from the border of Connecticut and less than 10 minutes from I-95.
In Martha's Vineyard: We do not have a ferry "terminal" located in Oak Bluffs, but we do have a company representative who is on the dock 60 minutes prior to each departure. The ferry arrives and departs just inside the harbor of the Oak Bluffs Marina, look for our sign on the dock. Everything you need is within walking distance from our dock.

Where do we park for the ferry?

In Rhode Island, we have all dockside parking versus the off-site shuttle parking which the other ferries in Massachusetts offer; we are the only ferry company to offer this convenience. We are also the least expensive parking lot; we charge $10.00 per calendar day with long-term discounts available. Please be prepared to pay by cash when entering the parking lot, we do not accept credit cards for parking.

What kind of ferry is it?

We operate the largest and fastest ferry to Martha's Vineyard; it is a state-of-the-art high-speed catamaran. The ferry can accommodate up to 400 passengers with 285 inside seats and plenty of outside sun-deck seating. The ferry uses Water Jet technology and travels at speeds between 32-36 knots.

How long is the trip on the ferry?

The ferry ride takes approximately 90 minutes; this can vary depending on weather and tide conditions. We begin boarding 30 minutes prior to departure.

  Are tickets refundable?

All tickets purchased are Non-Refundable; however, tickets may be exchanged for any trip on any date on a standby basis. Tickets are only valid for the year in which they were purchased.

What happens if the ferry is canceled because of weather conditions?

If the ferry is canceled for any reason our policy is as follows:

1. All departing round-trip and one-way tickets from Quonset Point, Rhode Island will be fully refunded, exchanged for a different day or if offered honored on motor coach transportation to an alternate ferry.

2. Passengers that are on Martha's Vineyard at the time of cancellation will be put on another ferry which will arrive in either Falmouth or Woods Hole; they will then board a motor coach and be transported to Quonset Point. Our company covers the cost of these additional modes of transportation and therefore there will be no refund.

  Can we bring a pet?

Pets are allowed on the ferry at no additional cost and must be on a leash at all times. Also, we ask that you be courteous of those around you when traveling with a pet.
